What Does It Mean If My Heart Feels Uncomfortable Or Hurts For Seemingly No Reason?

I am 18 years old. I'm lean, but I'm not physically active. But, every now and then, I will get an uncomfortable feeling in my heart, and I will be able to feel my heartbeat very prominently in my chest, and it is kinda slow. It only happens a few days out of the month, but it really bothers me when it happens. Right now, I am sick with a sore throat and a slight fever, and when I woke up this morning, my heart was hurting, just a litle bit, but I've heard that that's normal when your sick.

Is something wrong with me? Should I change my lifestyle?

Answer

SonicAdvDX,

Thanks for your question. It's difficult to say what is causing your problem. It is clear however, that you need to see your physician for an evaluation of your symptoms. Could your present illness provoke your symptoms? The range of possibilities is minor to serious, with minor being most likely. But you need a face to face evaluation where a doctor can ask more question, examine you, possibly perform an electrocardiogram, and be in a better position to decide what is going on and what needs to be done next. Call for an appointment as soon as possible.

Feel better.
