What Does Trace-lysed Blood In Urine Mean?

My doctor says I have trace-lysed blood in my urine. What does that mean?

Trace lysed blood refers to a finding that is usually reported from a urinary dip stick analysis. It implies that there is a small quantity of red cells in the urine that have broken open. The developer on the dip stick reacts with the hemoglobin that is released when the red cells are lysed. Causes of this include excessively alkaline urine, urine being stored for too long before being voided, injury, inflammation, or infection. Only your doctor can diagnose the problem effectively with the appropriate tests.

Hope that helps! Below I've added some links to other content that you might find useful.
