What Measurement (I.e. Tsp) Is 2.4 Grams Or Salt Or How Many Grams Are In 1 Tsp. Of Salt?

Answer

Hi Jacqui,

Here's a breakdown of how much sodium is in different measures of table salt.

¼ teaspoon salt = 600 mg sodium

½ teaspoon salt = 1200 mg sodium

¾ teaspoon salt = 1800 mg sodium

1 teaspoon salt = 2300 mg sodium

So, for 2.4 grams, you'd be looking at 1 tsp plus a little less than 1/16th of a teaspoon, so basically 1 tsp!

This can get a little confusing, because most people think salt and sodium are the same thing. But the table salt we think of is actually sodium chloride (NaCl) with a breakdown of about 40% sodium and 60% chloride.

Have a happy 4th!
