What Pain Killer Works The Best For Pinched Nerve?

What painkiller works the best for pinched nerve? My wife hurt her hand three weeks ago and now she is in big pain through her right shoulder and neck. The doctors said that she probably has pinched the nerve and is inflamed... it hurts really bad and she cannot stand up, drive, or basically function.

Answer

When there is inflammation, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) like ibuprofen, naproxen or aspirin often helps. There are also prescription-strength NSAIDs her doctor may want to try. If those don't relieve her pain, her doctor may consider a cortisone injection. There are also other things she could try, including stretching, massage, and other non-medication approaches to relieving the pain.
