What Is The Side-effects And Contraindcations Of Ivu Test?

Answer

An intravenous urogram (IVU) is a test that uses contrast dye and X-rays to evaluate problems in the urinary tract. IVU is an outpatient procedure, and no anesthesia is needed. The dye highlights the urinary system on the X-ray so doctors can see these body parts at work and detect any problems. The test typically last 60 to 90 minutes.

The procedure is not painful, but you will feel a sensation of warmth or heat as the dye travels through your body. Possible complications include allergic reaction to the dye and kidney problems (which often can be prevented by testing kidney function before the IVU test). Most people can resume normal activities immediately afterwards, but your doctor will tell you if there are any restrictions you should follow.

Best of luck. - MG
