What Is Worse, Ldl Or Vldl???

My tests show I have a VLDL count of 29 and an LDL count of 332... which is worse and why???

Hi FELD0311,

LDL and VLDL are both "lipoprotein packages" in your blood stream. They differ in what each package carries.

LDL - "bad" cholesterol

LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol carries mostly cholesterol, some protein, and minimal triglycerides throughout your circulation. LDL should be less than 130 mg/dL, ideally less than 100 mg/dL.

VLDL - "bad" cholesterol

VLDL (very low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol contains minimal protein and mainly transports triglycerides. VLDL should be less than 40 mg/dL.

In your case, an LDL of 332 is a much bigger concern than your VLDL. You VLDL is within a normal range and no worry. Your LDL is high. Here is a resource with information and tips for a diet to lower cholesterol.
