When My Hands Get Cold, And Then They Begin To Warm The Pain Is Severe In The Joints Of My Fingers,

When my hands get cold, as if being in the snow, or under cold water, or been in the freezer moving stuff around, as they begin to warm up the pain in my finger joints is severe, brings me to tears...I can't move them with our greater pain, and sensitive to the touch...I have OA, I have not had a period in a year and a half...Going through the change. What do I have,,,the symptoms of RA is not my symptoms, for they don't turn red, or swell, it is just horrible pain. It has been that way for 4 years or longer

Answer

When you have RA, it's quite common for your joints to be sensitive to cold and I suspect this would be the case for OA, as well. When your hands get cold, does your skin get white, as well? Sometimes, when you have arthritis, you can get Raynaud's, as well - the small arteries of your fingers go into spasm when exposed to cold, which cause the pain (you can read more about Raynaud's here). However, I'm not a doctor and this is just a guess, so you should make an appointment with your family doctor or rheumatologist to discuss the issue.
