Why Do My Feet Hurt? I Wake Up In The Morning Or In The Middle Of The Night And It Is Like Torchure

When I wake up in the morning or the middle of the night my feet hurt so bad that it almost takes my breath away. Sometimes it seems like it's both of my feet and at other times it is just the heels. I have high arches, but the pain described for falling arches isn't what mine feels like. I can't take the pain. Can anyone help?

Answer

Terrible heel and foot pain when you get up is a common symptom of plantar fascitis. The pain is often there immediately after getting up but recedes a bit as you begin moving around. The problem is caused when the ligament that connects the heel to the front of your foot (which supports your high arch) becomes inflamed.

The condition can take a while to treat, but fortunately there are several simple remedies for plantar fascitis pain. One of the easiest things you can do is begin doing straight-leg calf stretches, but be sure to do them gently. There are also several types of night splints that may help keep your foot stretched while you sleep so that waking up isn't as agonizing.Proper shoe support is also vital. Pain medications may also help.
