My 2 1/2 Year Old Sometims Vomits A Little When Burps. Is This Acid Reflux?
As an infant he had acid reflux, and was treated with prevacid. It worked great. He hasn't had to take it since he started regularly eating solids. He does seem to have a sensitive stomach, and has gross diapers quite a bit. Over the past year (when he should have outgrown this) he sometime has some vomit come up when he burps. I haven't been able to pinpoint anything in particular that triggers it, but it does happen on a somewhat regular basis (meaning about 1 a week or so). He also has a very sensitive gag reflex. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Your son certainly has some worrisome digestive symptoms that need to be discussed with the doctor. Vomits when he burps once a week, sensitive stomach, gags easily. These symptoms are associated with the upper digestive tract and may indicate reflux or something else. The "gross diapers" may be an issue of malabsorption/allergies/intolerances in the lower digestive tract.
The doctor will look at his rate of growth, nutrition and overall health in addition to the symptoms to figure out the reason for the symptoms.
Let us know what you find out.
