My Age Is 28 Years And When I Checked My My Blood Pressure It Was 157/97. What Should I Do?

I am a 28 year old man, recently graduated in the field of computer science. My weight is 155lb and height is 5feet 5 inches. last night i checked my blood pressure in CVS pharmacy and it read as 157/97, which is a stage 2 hypertension and i am worried about it. I have a history of suffering from Typhoid (3 or 4 times), does this have any connection with my blood pressure?

and since it is in stage 2 hypertension, do i need to start taking medicine?

i am looking for some kind of suggestion so that i could control my blood pressure.

Answer

Hi Anish,

Your first step needs to be scheduling an appointment with your physician. Have your blood pressure checked by your physician/nurse to verify a high reading and determine if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Next, consult with your physician to determine if medication is the appropriate next step or if you should make lifestyle/diet changes to bring your blood pressure down.

I'm not able to address your typhoid history, but your physician would be able to if there's a possible link.

Most importantly, don't wait. Schedule an appointment now. If you do have high blood pressure it's very important to take steps to get it under control.

All the best,
