JoAnn V. Pinkerton, M.D., is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology and division director of midlife health at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville. She is executive director of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). A nationally and internationally recognized leader in the field of menopause and women’s health, Dr. Pinkerton has been a member of NAMS since 1992, serving on its Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2010. She was the society’s president in 2008-2009 and is a NAMS-certified menopause practitioner. Dr. Pinkerton has also been a member of many of the society’s committees, including serving as chair of the 2008 scientific program committee.
