Dr. Piracha received his medical degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan in 2000. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia from 2003 to 2006. After a brief period of clinical practice, he completed a fellowship in Nephrology & Hypertension from Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York from 2012 to 2014.

Dr. Piracha is a published author and has earned numerous accolades during his illustrious career. In appreciation of his clinical and academic contributions, Dr. Piracha was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2012, a Fellow of the National Kidney Foundation (FNKF) in 2013, and a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN) in 2015.
