Maryam Lustberg, M.D., M.P.H.

Maryam Lustberg, M.D., M.P.H., is the director of the Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center, and chief of breast medical oncology at Yale Cancer Center in New Haven, CT. She is also an associate professor of medicine in the section of medical oncology. Dr. Lustberg completed her medical degree and residency at the University of Maryland and went on to complete a fellowship in medical oncology and in breast medical oncology, and a master’s in public health at The Ohio State University.

Her research focuses on identifying novel genomic predictors as well as blood and imaging biomarkers for treatment toxicity and survivorship management, and she is an NCI-funded investigator and active in both ALLIANCE and SWOG Cancer Cooperative Groups. In the last decade, she has published over 140 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. With these efforts, the goal of her clinical and research practice is to prevent or lessen treatment-related toxicity and ultimately personalize cancer treatments.

Dr. Lustberg is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting Education Committee, Patient and Survivor Care Education Committee, and Neuropathy Expert Guideline Panel. She is also a member of the ASCO Neuropathy Task Force, co-Chair of Alliance Clinical Trials Symptom Intervention Committee, and serves as the President Elect of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC). Her mentorship has been recognized by numerous awards including Best Teacher Award by hematology/oncology fellows and the Shining Star Award for medical student mentorship.
