Tabitha Woolpert, M.D., is a board-certified preventive medicine physician based in Carlsbad, CA, with experience in military and aviation medicine, clinical research, vaccines, and infectious diseases. Following receipt of a medical degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and an internship at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia, she completed flight surgery training at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, FL. She subsequently served in the U.S. Navy as a medical officer and flight surgeon to U.S. Marine aircraft groups in Hawaii, deploying to various Asia-Pacific locales. At the close of that tour, Dr. Woolpert completed residency training in general preventive medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University (a jointly hosted program), where she also earned a Master of Public Health degree with an emphasis in epidemiology and biostatistics.

Throughout her residency and over the subsequent years, she worked as an investigator/epidemiologist at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, contributing to numerous studies in multiple capacities: principal or co-investigator, study coordinator, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) member. Her research has spanned Japanese encephalitis vaccines, yellow fever vaccine, a Phase IV smallpox vaccine safety study, genetics analysis, clinical trials on rapid point-of-care influenza devices, respiratory disease surveillance, and an analysis of health behaviors as predictors for vaccine response. She has published her work in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences.

In the summer of 2009, Dr. Woolpert was privileged to serve as a biomedical consultant to the World Bank in Zomba, Malawi, as they studied the effects of cash incentives to stay in school on the rate of sexually transmitted infectious in local school-aged women.
