However, this time of year can also bring seasonal weight gain, with the abundance of Halloween candy, comfort foods and Thanksgiving feasts. If you’re privy to putting on the pounds around this time, try these five fall fitness ideas that are both fun and can help you stay on track.
Join a free fitness movement
If you’re on a budget, joining a gym or hiring a personal trainer may be out of the question. However, you might be pleasantly surprised to know that free fitness movements have been popping up all over the country. Check your city for movements such as November Project, which started in Boston as a way to stay in shape during the cold months and now has more than 15 locations.
Train for a themed race
Fall is many runners’ favorite time of year for races, and it’s no wonder, with the cool weather and beautiful scenery. But you don’t have to be an experienced runner to take part in races. Most cities host fun, non-competitive races for Halloween (costumes encouraged) and 5k “Turkey trots.” Find a race that suits your style and grab a friend to come along for the ride!
