Those with psoriasis know it's vital to keep your skin properly hydrated, moisturized, and protected. But how to choose among the plethora of products out there? The following slides feature my top picks for face and body after two decades living with psoriatic disease.

Caring for your face

Ultraluxe Bergamot Wash. Although you’ll spend a little extra on this, it is totally worth it. Bergamot has long been recognized for its healing properties, and the bergamot, chamomile, tangerine and sweet almond extracts in this face wash help calm irritation on the most sensitive parts of your face.

Saranghae. If your psoriasis patches tend to show up on your face, you might be a little nervous putting anything on skin that delicate. That’s why I was so happy to learn that Saranghae is safe for sensitive skin; is certified vegan, cruelty free; and contains few skin irritants. Even better? When the patches thin out and you’re left with hyperpigmentation, Saranghae reduces uneven tone and spots and stops them from coming back. Sign me up!

Rodan and Fields Soothe Line. These products help to alleviate dry, chapped, cracked skin and reduce visible signs of redness. Choose from their Gentle Cream Wash, Sensitive Skin Treatment, Moisture Replenishing Cream and even their Mineral Sunscreen with SPF 30.

Parry Botanicals is made with botanical extracts and is free of perfumes, dyes and parabens — basically perfect for those with psoriasis and sensitive skin! Another reason I love this line is because the lotion doesn’t leave you feeling greasy.

Buckaroo Organics. The Body Butter is light and airy and leaves your skin feeling so smooth. It can also soothe a sunburn, dry cracks, and skin irritations. For parts where your flare-ups are extremely flaky, the Tough as Nails Skin Treatment is perfect. I have used this on my knees and have seen the flakiness and redness diminish.

St. Ives has a paraben-free moisturizer with shea butter, soy bean oil, and glycerin. It gives you the lotion feel without the heavy residue.

Aveeno is another go-to brand for me with a variety of products for face and body. Always stick with their fragrance-free products, which tend to come with less of a chance for irritation. Don’t forget the sunscreen, light enough for daily use!
