Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease that affects the pancreas. It is characterized by high blood sugars (hyperglycemia) and most of the time, it is also characterized by insulin resistance. The insulin that is produced by the pancreas, it doesn't work as it should be in the body because the tissues are resistant to it.
